Rural Agricultural work Experience Programme 2024 commenced at ICAR-VPKAS Almora
The RAWE 2024 program officially began at the ICAR-VPKAS experimental farm in Hawalbagh. The event commenced with a warm welcome address and an outline of the RAWE program by Dr. Ashish Kumar Singh, the Nodal Officer of RAWE. This year's program has enrolled 80 students of B.Sc(Ag) including 20 from DSB Campus, Kumaon University, Nainital; 59 from Jaipur National University, Jaipur; and one from Graphic Era Hill University, Bhimtal. Following the welcome address, participants introduced themselves, promoting a sense of community and collaboration among the diverse group of students. The session began with an inspiring address by Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director of ICAR-VPKAS, Almora. Dr. Lakshmi Kant provided an overview of the institute's achievements and future goals, congratulating the students on their enrollment and motivating them to pursue careers in agricultural science through research and agri-preneurship. Dr. N K Hedau, Head of the Crop Improvement Division, shared insights into innovative crop improvement activities and advancements, encouraging students to explore future careers in this dynamic agricultural field. Dr. K K Mishra, Head of the Crop Protection Division, highlighted the division's activities and their relevance to the RAWE students, emphasizing the importance of effective crop protection strategies. Dr. Kushagra Joshi, Head of the Social Science Section, emphasized the significance of social science in agricultural research, outlining the valuable skills students can gain from this perspective. She highlighted the role of social science in understanding the broader impacts of agricultural practices on communities and economies. The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ashish Kumar Singh, who acknowledged the contributions of all speakers and participants.
